Graduate Training Opportunities
Dr. James Young is currently looking for graduate students and postdoctoral fellows. Career paths followed by previous trainees in his laboratory include University faculty and senior administrative positions, Medicine, Dentistry, the Pharmaceutical industry and University research.
Dr. Peter Nguyen is currently looking for a MSc Student, with undergraduate degree in Physiology, Pharmacology, Zoology, or Neuroscience. Lab experience with mice/rats, and/or electrophysiology desirable.
Dr. John Greer is currently looking for graduate students and postdoctoral fellows to work on two projects: 1) Development of treatment strategies to reduce pulmonary and cardiac defects in a mouse model of sickle cell disease. 2) Development of pharmacological therapies to treat obstructive and central sleep apnea.
Dr. Silvia Pagliardini is currently looking for graduate students interested in working on the following projects concerning neural control of breathing: 1) functional role of the paraFacial Respiratory group in respiratory control; 2) state dependent modulation of respiratory muscle activity. Research will use a combination of anatomical, electrophysiological and optogenetic techniques.
